SCOPE BEFORE BUILD
Agree what the project needs before development begins
OUR WEBSITE PROJECT PROCESS
A Clear Website Design Process for Australian Businesses, From Brief to Launch.
Understand how your Australian website or online-store project moves from the initial brief and agreed scope through planning, design, development, review, testing and launch.
CLEAR PROJECT STAGES
Know what happens from discovery through launch
APPROVALS ALONG THE WAY
Review important project decisions before the next stage moves forward
BEFORE THE PROJECT STARTS
Define the Website Before You Start Building It.
A clear brief reduces guesswork later. Before design or development begins, the project should establish what the website needs to achieve, who it is for, what content and functionality are required and what is inside the agreed scope.
Business goals
Clarify what the website needs to support, such as enquiries, information, product discovery, ecommerce or another defined customer action.
Audience
Understand who will use the website and what information or actions they need from it.
Pages and content
Identify the pages, information, imagery and content required for the initial project scope.
Functionality
Define important forms, ecommerce requirements, integrations or other features before development is planned.
Technical requirements
Identify relevant platform, domain, hosting, performance or integration requirements that can affect the build.
Scope and quotation
Once the requirements are understood, define the project scope, deliverables and commercial quotation before work begins.
FROM BRIEF TO LAUNCH
Seven Clear Stages from Discovery to Launch.
Each stage resolves the decisions the next stage depends on, keeping the project understandable from the first discussion through production launch.
1. Discovery
We discuss the business, audience, goals, current website if one exists, required functionality and the problems the new website needs to solve.
Client input: Business information, objectives, existing assets and known project requirements.
2. Scope and proposal
We turn the agreed requirements into a defined project scope and quotation so both sides understand what is being built before the project moves forward.
Client action: Review and approve the project scope and commercial proposal.
Any applicable payment schedule is defined in the approved project proposal.
3. Structure and content planning
We organise the page hierarchy, navigation, content requirements and important visitor journeys before detailed visual design or development.
Client action: Provide or approve the required content direction and missing project materials.
4. Design
We create the agreed visual direction around the brand, content, audience and user journeys, then review the relevant designs before development is finalised.
Client action: Review the design direction and provide consolidated feedback.
5. Development
The approved direction is built into the working website, including responsive layouts and the functionality defined in the project scope.
Client action: Provide any outstanding approved content or technical access required for the build.
6. Review and quality assurance
We review the agreed pages and functionality across relevant screen sizes and supported browsers, fix project-scope issues and prepare the website for launch.
Review includes: Review links, forms, responsive layouts, important interactions, agreed integrations and basic technical or SEO-ready foundations.
7. Launch
Once the agreed project is approved and launch requirements are ready, the website is deployed to the final production environment and the important post-launch checks are completed.
Client action: Approve launch after the required review and corrections are complete.
The final website can be deployed to the hosting environment agreed for the project. GrabbyHost hosting is available separately where it fits the website requirements.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
A Smoother Website Project Needs Clear Input from Both Sides.
Delays often happen when content, feedback or business decisions are still unresolved. Knowing what the project needs from you helps each stage move forward with fewer avoidable stops.
Business information
Provide accurate details about your business, services, products and the goals the website needs to support.
Brand assets
Share the approved logo, brand guidelines, colours, imagery and other brand material available for the project.
Website content
Provide the agreed text, images, product information and other content, or confirm which content-related work is included in the project scope.
Access and technical information
Provide required domain, hosting, platform or third-party access through the agreed secure process when the project needs it.
Consolidated feedback
Review project stages and provide clear, consolidated feedback from the people responsible for approving the website.
Timely approvals
Approve agreed project decisions when ready so later stages are not held up by unresolved earlier work.
PROJECT TIMELINE
The Timeline Follows the Scope—not a Generic Website Package.
A focused business website and a larger ecommerce or integration-heavy project do not require the same amount of work. Timing depends on the approved scope, content readiness, functionality, review cycle and technical dependencies.
PROJECT SCOPE
More pages and functionality require additional planning, design, development and testing.
CONTENT READINESS
Projects move more smoothly when required copy, images and product information are ready at the relevant stage.
INTEGRATIONS
Third-party platforms, payment services, APIs and external systems can affect implementation and testing time.
FEEDBACK & APPROVALS
The review cycle depends partly on how quickly project decisions and approvals are returned.
The expected project schedule is defined once the scope and required inputs are understood.

Know What You Are Reviewing Before the Project Moves Forward.
Project stages are easier to manage when approval happens at meaningful points rather than waiting until the entire website is finished.
Scope approval
Confirm the agreed project requirements and deliverables before the main work begins.
Design review
Review the agreed visual direction before development progresses too far to change fundamental design decisions efficiently.
Functional review
Review important pages, forms, interactions and agreed functionality before final launch preparation.
Launch approval
Confirm the website is ready to move to the agreed production environment after the required review and corrections are complete.
Feedback and revision expectations are defined by the agreed project scope and proposal.
WEBSITE PROJECT QUESTIONS
Questions About the Website Design Process.
Clear answers about scope, quotations, content, timelines, approvals, hosting, revisions and what happens after launch.
The project starts with a discussion about the business, audience, goals, content and required functionality. Once the requirements are clear enough, the project scope and quotation can be defined before design and development begin.
No. Professional Website Design and custom Online Store projects are scoped around the actual requirements rather than forcing every customer into the same fixed package. The project quotation is prepared after the required work is understood.
Cost depends on the agreed scope, including pages, design depth, content requirements, functionality, integrations, ecommerce needs and other project-specific work. GrabbyHost defines the requirements before providing the appropriate quotation.
Timing depends on project scope, content readiness, design complexity, functionality, integrations and the review process. The expected schedule can be defined more accurately once the requirements and deliverables are agreed.
The project may require business information, brand assets, copy, images, product or service information, required technical access and feedback from the person responsible for approving the project. The exact requirements are defined during planning.
Feedback is reviewed at the relevant project stages so important decisions can be resolved before later work depends on them. The number and scope of revisions should follow the approved project proposal rather than being assumed to be unlimited.
Not automatically. Hosting is a separate service unless it is specifically included in the approved project scope or quotation. GrabbyHost hosting is available when it fits the website requirements.
After launch, the website moves into normal operation. Ongoing hosting, maintenance, SEO, marketing, content updates or additional development depend on the services included in the project or arranged separately afterward.
