SiteLock Malware Protection: Complete Feature Guide

SiteLock is GrabbyHost's website malware protection add-on. It covers a different job than an SSL certificate or a website backup: SiteLock looks for malware and security problems on your website, and on the higher tiers can remove what it finds and add proactive protection. Plans range from a limited free scan up to full detection, automatic remediation and a web application firewall, plus a one-time emergency cleanup for a website that's already compromised.

Detection, Removal and Prevention Are Different Jobs

Not every SiteLock plan does the same thing. Before choosing one, it helps to know which job you actually need:

• SiteLock Lite (free) – a lightweight external scan of up to 5 pages with a daily check and a risk score. Detection and alerting only, no automated malware removal.
• SiteLock Find – broader and deeper scanning (up to 25 pages under the standard plan), using multiple security scanners plus vulnerability scanning. Still detection only, no automated removal.
• SiteLock Fix – adds automated malware removal on top of scanning, with documented coverage up to 500 pages and daily vulnerability scanning. Requires file-level access so it can clean what it finds.
• SiteLock Defend – scanning plus automatic remediation plus a Web Application Firewall and bad-bot protection. This tier needs additional DNS configuration to route traffic through the firewall.
• SiteLock Emergency – a one-time cleanup service for a website that is already known or suspected to be compromised, rather than a recurring subscription. Requires file-level access.

Choosing the Right Plan

• Just want an early warning? Lite is a basic risk signal for a small site.
• Want deeper detection but you'll handle cleanup yourself (e.g. via a developer or your CodeGuard backup)? Choose Find.
• Want malware found and removed automatically? Choose Fix.
• Want scanning, automatic removal and a firewall in front of your site? Choose Defend.
• Site is already infected right now? Choose Emergency for a one-time cleanup rather than waiting on a subscription plan.

Getting Started

1. Pick the plan that matches the job you need (see above) on the SiteLock page and complete checkout.
2. For Fix, Defend or Emergency, provide the file-level access SiteLock needs to clean your site — follow the setup steps in your GrabbyHost client account.
3. For Defend, complete the additional DNS configuration required to route traffic through the firewall.
4. Review scan results and alerts regularly, and act on flagged issues even on detection-only plans (Lite/Find) since they won't fix anything automatically.

Good to Know

SiteLock protects against malware and website-level threats; it isn't a backup service and it isn't an SSL certificate. Keep a separate backup (see CodeGuard) so you can restore your site if needed, and keep a valid SSL certificate for encrypting traffic to your site — SiteLock, CodeGuard and SSL solve different problems and are commonly used together.
