Knowing when an invoice is due and what happens if it isn't paid on time helps you avoid any interruption to your hosting, domains, or other services. Here's how GrabbyHost's billing cycle and late-payment process works.
When Invoices Are Generated and Due
Invoices are generated automatically ahead of each renewal or new order, giving you time to pay before the service's actual expiry/renewal date. The invoice's due date is shown on the invoice itself in Billing > Invoices in your client area – this is the date payment is expected, not the service's expiry date, though the two are related.
Reminder Emails You'll Receive
GrabbyHost sends a series of automated emails around your invoice's due date, all of which you can review anytime in Email History in your account:
- Invoice Payment Reminder – sent ahead of the due date as a heads-up.
- Invoice Payment Due – sent on or around the due date itself.
- First Invoice Overdue Notice – sent if the invoice remains unpaid after the due date has passed.
- Invoice Payment Confirmation – sent once payment is successfully received.
What Happens If a Payment Is Missed
If an invoice remains unpaid past its due date, the associated service can be automatically suspended. You'll receive a Service Suspension Notification email if this happens. While suspended, the service (hosting, VPS, etc.) becomes inaccessible, but your data and configuration are preserved.
Once the outstanding invoice is paid, the service is typically restored automatically, and you'll receive a Service Unsuspension Notification confirming access has been reinstated.
Domains work a little differently: an unpaid renewal invoice can lead to the domain expiring rather than being "suspended," after which it may enter a redemption period before finally being released, depending on the registry.
How to Avoid Late Payments
- Enable auto-renewal and keep a valid payment method on file (see Accepted Payment Methods & How to Update Your Card).
- Check Billing > Invoices periodically for any open invoices.
- Make sure the email address on your account is current, since all billing notices are sent there.
If you're facing a delay in payment, contact support before the due date – we're often able to work with you to avoid a service interruption.
