Moving a domain from GoDaddy to GrabbyHost is straightforward. This guide covers what to do on the GoDaddy side, then how to complete the transfer in your GrabbyHost client area.
Step 1: Prepare Your Domain in GoDaddy
- Log in to your GoDaddy account and go to your Domain Portfolio.
- Select the domain you want to transfer.
- Choose Transfer to Another Registrar under the Transfer section, and review the transfer checklist GoDaddy shows you.
- Select Continue with transfer and complete identity verification (a 2-step verification code or one-time password).
- Click Click here to see Authorization Code, then copy the code shown. GoDaddy will also email this auth code to the domain's registrant contact address.
Note: GoDaddy turns off domain privacy at this step so the correct contact details transfer with the domain, and a domain can't be transferred within 60 days of registration, a previous transfer, or certain contact changes.
Step 2: Start the Transfer at GrabbyHost
- Log in to your GrabbyHost client area and go to the Domains section, or start a new order and choose Transfer My Domain.
- Enter your domain name and the authorization code you copied from GoDaddy.
- Complete checkout for the transfer, which includes a 1-year renewal at the new registrar.
Step 3: Approve the Transfer
You'll receive a transfer confirmation email (sent to the registrant address on file) — you may need to approve the transfer there, or it may complete automatically after the standard waiting period if no action is taken. Transfers typically complete within 5–7 days.
