Before you start.
Transferring a domain moves its registration to GrabbyHost while keeping its existing DNS records and history intact once complete. A few things need to be true before a transfer can begin:
- The domain must be at least 60 days past its registration or last transfer date.
- It must be unlocked at its current registrar.
- WHOIS/ID protection must be temporarily disabled if enabled, so the transfer can be verified.
- You'll need the domain's EPP/authorization code from your current registrar.
Get your EPP/authorization code.
Log in to your current registrar's account, find the domain's management page, and request or copy the EPP code (sometimes called an auth code or transfer code). This is usually emailed to the domain's registered contact.
Start the transfer.
- Go to the domain transfer section on the GrabbyHost website or in your client area.
- Enter your domain name and confirm it's eligible for transfer.
- Enter the EPP/authorization code when prompted.
- Add the transfer to your cart and complete checkout.
Approve the transfer.
You'll receive a confirmation email — either from your current registrar or the domain's registered contact — asking you to approve the transfer. The transfer won't complete until this is confirmed, so check your inbox (and spam folder).
How long it takes.
Most transfers complete within 5–7 days, though some extensions can take longer depending on the registry's rules.
